Proverbs Study: Proverbs 2 - God Chasers Wisdom and Discernement Will Keep You Safe!

 PROVERBS 2
1My son, if you will receive my words and treasure my commandments within you, 2 Make your ear attentive to wisdom; incline your heart to understanding; 3For if you cry for discernment, lift your voice for understanding; 4If you seek her as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures; 5Then you will discern the fear of the LORD And discover the knowledge of God. 6For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding.  7He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk integrity, 8Guarding the paths of justice, And He preserves the way of His godly ones. 9Then you will discern righteousness and justice and equity and every good course. 10 For wisdom will enter your heart and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; 11Discretion will guard you, Understanding will watch over you, 12To deliver you from the way of evil, from the man who speaks perverse things; 13From those who leave the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness; 14Who delight in doing evil and rejoice in the perversity of evil; 15Whose paths are crooked, and who are devious in their ways; 16To deliver you from the strange woman, from the adulteress who flatters with her words; 17That leaves the companion of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God; 18For her house sinks down to death and her tracks lead to the dead; 19None who go to her return again, nor do they reach the paths of life. 20So you will walk in the way of good men and keep to the paths of the righteous. 21For he upright will live in the land and the blameless will remain in it; 22But the wicked will be cut off from the land and he treacherous will be uprooted from it.

There is a posture for receiving wisdom – make your ear attentive, and incline your heart.  You have to prepare yourself to receive it.  Wisdom has to be sought after – and God will reveal it.  We know how it is to seek after something.  We don’t stop until we find it.  Say you have to go somewhere, and you can’t remember where you put your keys… Do you give up, and just count them as lost?  NO!  you keep going after them, looking in places you never thought they’d be – you keep searching until you find it.

God is the only one when we don’t get the results in a few days, we back off… we don’t SAY it doesn’t work – but that’s how we act.  Because if not, we would forever be in pursuit.  That’s how you become a God chaser – its not a once a week, once every now and then, or just when you get to church kind of thing.  Consistency is the key to seeking God.  Because just like those car keys are needed to arrive at the next destination, or to not be late for an appointment- you need to find God to arrive at that next destination or to not be late for your destiny appointment.

There are times in our lives when we make decisions that “seem” good.  Business offers that “seem” as if they will work.  But clearly, God will protect those that walk in integrity – but you must chase after wisdom.  He will keep you from those “bad deals”, bad friendships, and from people that just mean you no good.  Because there was an old song that said,

“They smile in your face, all the time they wanna take your place, those backstabbers, backstabbers”… LOL – that song just popped up in my head –

But walking in wisdom will keep you from those people.  This proverb also speaks volumes to marriages and to singles.  I cannot tell you the number of women I knew that strayed from God because they got a man.  Now, TRUST  nothing is wrong with having a man in your life – but the RIGHT man makes all the difference.  The bible tells us to not be unequally yoked, and for some reason, these women were seduced by looks, sex appeal, and attention – that they forgot the God that held their future.  Same thing with men, some “skirt” walks by- and the rest is history…  Even marriages – statistics don’t do it justice.  You would be amazed at the number of people you speak to in church and wave to at work who are having serious marital problems, are in an adulterous affair.  SEEK AFTER WISDOM – and it will take care of all of that.  “Its not that simple” – but it has to be, the bible said so.

Proverbs Study: Proverbs 1 - Listen When Wisdom Speaks

You must fear the Lord to walk in wisdom.  What does it mean to fear the Lord?  That means you must be afraid to not do it His way.  God does give us a choice – but those that walk in wisdom have a serious hesitancy about doing it any other way than what God said to do.  

There have been things that I have done in my life that were foolish.  In order to walk in wisdom, I need to repent for being foolish when I had the opportunity to walk in wisdom.  When I repent, wisdom will pour out His thoughts to me.  I also recognize from this proverb, being wayward – out of the will of God will eventually kill you.  It may seem fun, or pleasurable, or easy for a moment or a season, but it will eventually kill you.   And we quote scriptures that Jesus came that we may have life, and life more abundantly, (john 10) and “with long life will he satisfy me” (psalm 91)—and we have things in our lives that don’t line up with the will of God…  Well – we shouldn’t expect long life, because we are not in alignment.  If I listen to wisdoms advice, I will live safely and be at ease – safe without fear or harm.

It needs to be just as important to me to fulfill the will of God as it is to him.  That’s in every area of my life.  I need to go to places of prayer to see what is not lining up, what is not bearing fruit- and its time to get it right.  Whether its love walk, managing finances, being productive, love walk, how you treat your spouse, how you raise your kids, the job you have, no matter what it is, make sure its in alignment with the will of God.  There is no purpose in it if its not bearing fruit.

Sweet Serendipity

WOW! I don't know about anyone else, but 2010 was an AWESOME year... I mean - it just was.  I experienced some of the hardest challenges in my life, but I overcame each of them - and will continue to do so.  I just want to share my heart a little about what I am going to focus on for this year.

There are so many of you that will read this that are multi-talented, multi-faceted, the jack-of-all-trades - and master of many... Some of you wear many mantles, and have authority in different areas and can do MANY THINGS!  YET... 2010 - you produced much of...  NOTHING...



Yep- I said it.  Much of nothing.  You had a thousand reasons why you could not produce, and a million reasons why those excuses were true - and a trillion more of why your ideas and thoughts were stupid.  You know, enough- is enough.  I know this applies to me - I was productive in 2010 - probably more productive in 2010 than I have ever been spiritually.  Now its time for another level.  Your talent, your anointing, your gift - your calling means absolutely nothing if you never utilize it.  This is the year to move forward.  It honestly is.  For me, I feel that if I don't complete the goals that I have set this year - that it will be along time before the grace will come around to get it done.  I believe for me this is the year that can determine my next 5 years if I do what I am supposed to do.  This is the year that will change my income, my life, my focus, and many other things ---- if I COMPLETE MY GOALS.

I just cussed... Excuse me... LOL

Yes - I said GOALS...

It is time to name your distractions, analyze your fears - and "kick dem ninja's to the curb" - yes - I had to get a little ghetto to get my point across.. Its time.  Who cares how many people by your book if God told you to write it?

Who cares how many people will hear your songs if God told you to sing them?

Who cares how many will support your kingdom business if God told you to start it?

WHO CARES how many people read your blog (talking to me) and listen to your podcast if God told you to do it???

Because success is never in numbers... ASK GIDEON.  #imjustsayin


We play the numbers game so much, we reflect on who likes us, who doesn't like us, who we need to know, who we need to let go- and the truth of the matter is - Life is filled with many serendipitous moments as you walk in the path that God has led you on.

Click the link to find out what serendipity means... but its just the surprises in life.  Those GOOD surprises - you know, those kind that make you smile... So many times people are walking around looking for the surprises instead of walking the path, and just walking up on it.

For example... We all like finding money on the ground right?  How dumb would it look if we walked around all day long, with our face to the ground - looking for money?  How much would we miss?  What would we run into because we weren't watching where we were going?  I mean - really - but thats what we do sometimes.  Keep waiting on the surprises and the unexpected check, or for someone to walk up to you to give you a million dollars or a record deal - instead of living your life, walking the path God has ordained - and allowing the moment to come up on you....

The bible calls it "Seek ye first"

So I said all of that to say....

DON'T GET LEFT BEHIND....

Should we continue in sin that grace may abound?  God forbid - thats what the bible says anyway... Do you know how many people would love to be able to do what you do?  Sing how you sing?  Preach how you preach?  Teach how you teach?  Organize, prophesy, administrate, walk in healing, pray, and show the love of God like you do?

Why are you waisting it?  

Don't spend the next few years of your life being unproductive because you didn't use your time wisely. Use this year to set you up for the next few years of your life.  You have a brand new opportunity.  No, you won't want to all the time.  No, you won't feel like it all the time.  But life is not American Idol - you don't get a shot just cause you show up.  You have to work at this honey...

I pray many serendipitous moments for you as you walk your walk with God - and that you allow God to completely guide you in all that you do.  All things ARE POSSIBLE to them that believe.  Believers are doers, not just hearers....
